Simphiwe Sim Mabuya a Jazz-hop artist based in CT, just released a thought provoking Ep titled “Shock&Awe” in collaboration with producer iWillTunes (Jhb) through an indie music movement Home Grown Concepts. The project is available for download and streaming officially on bandcamp.com and later on all leading digital platforms.

Simphiwe Mabuya, better known by his stage name Sim-TRB ( Tha Real Bhayinari). This lyrical creative was born and bred in a small location of Kwazakhele in Port Elizabeth. He regards himself as a performing artist and a community developer who believes on empowering communities through Word power. Sim chose to employ his God given talent ,Rhythm & Poetry, as a tool to express himself. His writings will often, if not always, evoke mind blowing emotions, touch on thought provoking concepts with his smooth, addictive and smart flow patterns over jazzy/boom-bap beats. His inspiration is mostly drawn from the type of community work that he’s has been involved in including own life experiences.

Nina Simone once said “ an artists duty is to reflect the times and situations in which he/she finds himself in” and Shock&Awe Ep is such a perfect example. The project is heavily inspired by the international best seller titled “The Shock Doctrine” written by the acclaimed author Naomi Klein. The book sheds a lot of light on “the secret history of our era, whilst exposing global profiteers / disaster capitalists’’ bent on dominating our world.

Simphiwe Mabuya draws a lot from the terrifying and shocking instances derived from the book whilst creating astounding connections with the present global and local happenings e.g. the Covid 19 pandemic, economic reforms, state capture, the rising gap between the rich and the poor, denationalisation, job losses, mind control, voodoo politics etc.

This is a six track project ( A side: 3 tracks | B side: 3 instrumentals) which touches upon subjects such as Mind Control, Crisis and Shock Therapy. The project is artistically and creatively written in the best poetic way only Simphiwe Sim Mabuya could execute. Resulting into a beautifully curated piece of music project that will have heads head-nodding to the ever soulful iWillTunes beats laced with some potent content!

Thato Mokoena, better known by his act name "I_Will [Tunes]", is a South African independent music artist Born in Zone 10 Sebokeng Ext1, currently living in Powerville Park (Vereeniging)t Started his music career in 2015 as a full-time beatmaker drawing his inspiration from talented names in the beat scene such as "Mndsgn" "Melodiesinfonie" "AFTA-1" etc and has released couple of his EP's (digitally) via soundcloud and bandcamp
